MEYER RITES AT 2 TODAY
Funeral services for Henry Meyer, 80, who died unexpectedly Friday, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Effingham Methodist church. The Rev. Lloyd K. Bradley, assisted by the Rev. Willard Braker, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Rolly Freeland, Frank Freeland, Gus Gigstad, Sid Bonnel, Charles Wheeler and Lloyd Page.
Friends may call at the Warren funeral home, Nortonville, until noon Sunday.
Mr. Meyer was born on the family farm northwest of Nortonville July 6, 1881. He was a son of Elizabeth Schantz Meyer and Frederick William Meyer. He spent his life on the same farm.
Dec. 20, 1910, he married Myrtle Acheson of Nortonville. Dec. 20, 1960, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Lola) Cramer; a sister, Mrs. Presley Page, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meyer was a member of the Nortonville-Pleasant Grove Christian church. When younger, and health permitted, Mr. Meyer was active in the church, serving as a deacon and as superintendent of the Sunday school. He had a fine bass voice and sang in the church choir.
For several years he was a director of Star school.
Mr. Meyer was a devoted husband and father, and a good neighbor and friend always ready to help others.
