She was born in Woodland on April 6, 1920, the daughter of William and Grace (Newbegin) McEachern. She was baptized at and was a member of Castle Hill Advent Christian Church. Bessie had been employed at Potato Service in Presque Isle, Loring Air Force Base laundry service and Taterstate in Washburn.
Surviving her are five sons, William Carmichael, of Presque Isle, Milford Carmichael Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Houlton, Marshall Carmichael, of Washburn, and Rodney Carmichael and Harley Carmichael, both of Castle Hill; daughters Vernna Alley, of Caribou, Annette Keenan, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Norma Jean Sharp, of Castle Hill, Linda Tarbox, of Georgia, and Pearl Moyer, of Deltona, Fla.; a brother, Perley McEachern and his wife, Rilla, of New Brunswick, Canada; sisters Marion Cochran and her friend, Wayne Green, of Oakland, and Joyce Savoy and her husband, Clarence, of Farmington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her little dog companion, Bear, will also sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with pastor Lucy Lovley officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in the South Side Cemetery in Mapleton.
