He was born June 14, 1908 in Winston-Salem, N.c. and came to Petoskey as a small child. He was married to Naomi Fine at Clarion, June 19, 1029. She died in 1949. He worked as a butcher at Crago's for many years.
Surving are his parents Mr. & Mrs. Charles Lashmit of Petoskey; four daughters, Mrs. Lem(Hope)Parrish of Miami, Mrs.Sam(Carrie) Cooke of Winston-Salem, Mrs. James(Betty)Foster of Petoskey and Mrs. Robert(Mary) Morris of Harbor Springs; three brothers; Paul, George, and Ellis and half-brother, Herbert; 11 grandchildren.
The body is at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may call Tuesday.
