Former Petoskey resident Ellis M. Lashmit, 76, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died April 27, 1994, at his home.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Evangelical Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The Rev. Tim Rowe will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lashmit was born Aug,.,21, 1917, in Petoskey, the son of Charles and Maggie (Alders) Lashmit. He attended Evangelical Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Venetta(Stiles) Griffis Lashmit; two daughters, Emily Horsman of Battle Creek, and Ruth Slusher of Mansfield, Ohio; two sons, Leonard Lashmit of Mount Vernon, Ohio and the Rev. Ronald Lashmit of Tipton, Iowa; 24 grandchildren;four great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Lashmit of Mishawaka, Ind; three stepdaughters, Nancy Lashmit of Tipton,Iowa, Rebecca McCaslin of Iowa City and Patricia Long of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and five stepsons' Virgil Griffis of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Rev. Ted Griffis of Trinidad, Colo., Ken Griffis of Mankato, Minn., Rev. David Griffis of Tiffin, Ohio, and Ed Griffis of Newark, Ohio. Mr Lashmit was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine (Lambertson) Lashmit in 1994; three brothers, Fred, George and Hubert Lashmit; and by one sister, Ida Mae Lashmit.
