Atty. George L. Hitesman, 78, former resident of Valparaiso, died Monday afternoon at his home at 3854 Delaware, Gary, after an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 18, 1882, at Prattville, and was the son of Samuel W. and Emma Jane Hitesman. He was a practicing lawyer in Porter county, and had an office in Gary for the past 45 years. He studied and completed his law courses at Valparaiso university.
Surviving are his widow, Bertha; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Clouse; one sister, Mrs. Harry Moore; two brothers, Alvia of Valparaiso, and David of Peoria, and a brother-in-law, W. A. Sanders.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Shonkes Funeral home, 21 West Ridge Road, Gary. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Valparaiso, with the Rev. L. E. Myers, Nazarene church, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of services.
