HOME DAMAGED AT LAPORTE ~ The home of Frank Hitesman, of LaPorte, former Valparaiso resident, was damaged Wednesday night to the extent of $700 by a fire which started from a stove set too close to the wall. LaPorte firemen fought the blaze for an hour. Damage to the house was estimated at $450 and to the contents $250. * The Vidette-Messenger - August 24, 1934
Obituary - Frank Hitesman, 79, LaPorte, died Saturday after a heart attack. He was a former Valparaiso resident. He was born March 4, 1880, in Westville. A retired electrician, he worked here for Van Ness Electric Company and General Telephone Company. Surviving are two sons, Thomas and Walter of LaPorte; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Calaski and Mrs. Gladys Disbrow of LaPorte; a sister, Mrs. Flossie Moore of 355 Haas, Valparaiso; three brothers, Alvia W. Hitesman of 1009 Calumet Avenue, Valparaiso, George of Gary, and David of Peoria, Ill.; and a brother-in-law, W. A. Sanders of Chesterton. His wife, Dorcas Kyes Hitesman, died Nov. 15, 1943. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte. Burial will be at Kinne Cemetery north of Valparaiso on Ind. 49. * The Vidette-Messenger - April 6, 1959
