Margaret Dorothy Grisham Fugate

Margaret Dorothy Grisham Fugate, 78, of Calhoun, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland surrounded by her family.

A native of Meigs County and a lifelong resident of Calhoun, she was a daughter of the late Wilford "Bill" Grisham and Beulah Shelton Grisham Smith, and was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Fugate; one brother, Jay Shelton; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy Fugate. She was a very special wife, mother and a great "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to quilt and cook. She loved her family more than life itself. She left one home to inherit her heavenly home and join her husband, Gordon. She was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Meigs County and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Hurshul Richesin of Calhoun, Della and Phil Liner of Charleston, and Loretta and Ken Purdie of Athens; four sons and daughters-in-law, Beauford and Kathy Fugate of Riceville, Bobby and Caroline Fugate of Calhoun, Jerry and Regina Fugate of Lagos, Nigeria, and Doug and Carmen Fugate of Calhoun; grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Sabrina Richesin and Andrea Broadway, all of Cleveland, Shaun Fugate of Athens, Cameron and Sara Liner of Manchester, Amanda Fugate of Riceville, Tessa and Jonathan Workman of Cleveland, Adam and Katie Fugate and Nathan Fugate, all of Athens, Orrin Purdie of Memphis, Lauren Purdie of Cookeville, Chelsea and Andy Jones of Clarksville, and Parker Fugate of Cookeville; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Savannah Richesin, Taylor and Rylan Fugate, Wynter Fugate, Elijah and Julia Liner and London Workman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Bill Fortner and Dorothy and John Cross, all of Cleveland; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lloyd "Tip" Smith of Cleveland, Ronnie and Freida Smith of Chatsworth, Ga., and Mary Shelton of Cleveland; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Purdie officiating. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
