GREGORY
Services for Audie "Al Gregory, Sr., 91, 1300 N. Canal St., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the West Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Lawrence of the First Baptist Church. Gregory died Tuesday at the local hospital.
Pallbearers will be Dewey Fuson, Gayle Porter, Leon Gregory, Al Gregory, James Boggs, Jack Gregory, Wayne Gregory and Lloyd McNabb.
Born April 27, 1893 in Eufala Indian Territory in Oklahoma, he was raised and educated in Oklahoma. On July 15, 1914, in Wilburton, Okla., he married Pearl Lackey. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past July. They moved to Carlsbad in 1927, where he started to work for U.S. Potash. He worked there for 12 years before going to work for National Potash. He worked there until the mine was sold, then he and his wife moved back to Oklahoma. They returned to Carlsbad about 15 years ago to retire.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl, Carlsbad; four sons, Al, Thomas Jack and Wayne, all of Carlsbad, and Leon, Ft. Sumner, N.M.; four daughters, Grace Fuson, Lila Porter, Gean Boggs and Shirlee McNabb, all of Carlsbad; three brothers, Charlie, Carlsbad, and Dale and Clyde, both residents of Oklahoma; one sister, Lennie Passmore, Oklahoma; 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
