CARLSBAD--A graveside memorial service for Grace L. Fuson, 87, of L Street, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with the Rev. John Hinze of Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Fuson died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at home.
West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Grace Lee Fuson was born June 13, 1915 in Kita, Okla., to Audie Lee and Susan Pearl Lackey Gregory.
She married Dewey B. Fuson on Oct. 1, 1936, in Carlsbad.
Grace was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was also a talented artist who enjoyed writing childhood stories and poetry. Her parents; her husband of 57 years; two brothers, Al Gregory and Thomas Jack "T.J." Gregory; two sisters, Lila Porter and Jean Boggs; and a grandson, Bill Audie Hamby, preceded Grace in death.
Survivors include a son, Dewey L. Fuson and wife, Rita of Texas; daughters Judy Cox and husband, Fred, of Carlsbad, Patricia Hamby of Oklahoma, Vickie Schmidt and husband, Dennis, of Carlsbad, and Cheryl Tedford and husband, John, of New Mexico; brothers, Leon and Wayne Gregory; a sister Shirley McNabb; and 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
