ELSINORE - Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah (Sadie) Gray Christensen, 80, long-time resident of Elsinore who died in the Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield Thursday morning after a short illness, were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel by Bishop Lorin Christiansen.
Speakers were Rulon D. Newell and Joseph Hubbard with short remarks by Bishop Christiansen. A tribute from Camp Belnap DUP was given by Clara Kotter. Musical numbers were the prelude and postlude by Mrs. Jetta Marquardson at the organ and Mrs. Bethel Holman as violinist; ladies' double duet; vocal duet, Gwendolyn Jacobson and Mrs. Zola Jensen; violin solo, Mrs. Holman, accompanied by Mrs. Bill Etters; solo, Mrs. W.W. Sylvester; the invocation was by H.J. Kotter and the benediction by W.W. Sylvester. Dedication of the grave was by Leland Gray. Pallbearers were: Boyd Christensen, Garth Gray, Thad Williams and Max Williams.
She was born at Beaver December 15, 1872, a daughter of Samuel W. and Sarah Elizabeth Busby Gray. The family moved to Central when she was five years old and there she attended school.
On December 18, 1891 she was married to Theodore Christensen at Elsinore. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on July 31, 1921. Mr. Christensen died August 5, 1935.
During her life she was active in LDS Church activities, having served in the Primary Assn. and the Relief Society.
Besides neices and nephews the only survivor is a sister, Mrs. Margaret Burriston, San Carlos, California.
Burial in the Elsinore City Cemetery under the direction of the Neal S. Magleby Mortuary.
