James Gray Dies Suddenly at His Home in Central

James Gray, 70, passed away suddenly at about 10 o'clock Wednesday evening while irrigating at his home in Central,death resulting from a heart attack. He was found by members of his family, who, at about 11 o'clock, became anxious over his being out so long, and went to look for him.

James Gray was born in Scotland, December 6, 1850. His parents immigrated to Utah when he was about two years of age. His father Samuel W. Gray, first settled at Beaver, Utah, later moving to Central. James Gray married Esther Johannah Thurston March 7, 1886. She with the following sons and daughters, survives: Parker M. Gray, Reedsport, Oregon; Angus W. Gray, Mrs Nettie Ralls and Mrs Myrtle Blair, all of Portland, Oregon; Mrs Margaret Vowles, Los Angeles; Mrs Lillinn Beede, San Francisco; Mrs Ruby Tyler, Grand Junction, Colorado. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Andrew Gray, Grace, Idaho; Alex Gray, Pleasant Grove; Thomas Gray, Central; Mrs Maggie Burriston, Salt Lake City, and Mrs Sadie Christensen, Elsinore.

Funeral services were held in the Inverury ward meeting house Sunday afternoon. The speakers were Hartley Greenwood of Central, J.L. Staples of Elsinore, A.D. Nebeker of Annabella and President R.D. Young of Richfield.

Music consisted of selections by a quartet composed of Lee Gray, Lloyd Johnson, Heber Christiansen and Eugene Gray of Delta, and a vocal solo by Ammon Roberts of Annabella, accompanied by Miss Cleone Roberts. The opening prayer was offered by N.C. Sorensen and the benediction by Joseph R. Hooton.

Interment took place in the Richfield cemetery. Christian Dausel dedicated the grave. Many relatives from surrounding towns and more distant places attended the services.
