In 1870, the census recorded Adelia living in Caddo Ward 4 with her widowed mother Eliza Durham and sisters Louisa and Elmyra. They lived next door to their brother John B. Durham and his wife Sallie Carlton Durham. Also enumerated was their domestic servant, Hannah Durham with her children Adolphus, Alpha and Nelson. Hannah was buried with her employers in their family plot at Oakland when she died in 1873 of yellow fever.

In 1880, Adelia was living with a black family, the Ben Johnsons ( Ben Johnson was possibly the husband of beloved Durham servant Hanna's daughter Alpha Durham) residing next door to John B. Durham, his second wife Carrie Drew Durham, their daughter, Carrie E., son (with Sallie) Howell and daughter (with Sallie) Hattie. Louisa married JamesS. Volentine (married in 1970, but J.S. and their infant daughter died in 1872). She was living with John Berry as was his mother, Eliza. Louisa "Lou" married Williamson County judge, Benjamin Franklin Yates.
