A native of Madison County, she lived most of her life in Buncombe County and was a daughter of Jacob and Julia Plemmons Mack. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zebulon Lee Chambers, Sr., a pioneer in Southern Gospel Music in WNC who died in 1978 and by her son, Z.L. "Bud" Chambers, Jr. who died in 1998.
Mrs. Chambers was able to celebrate her 100th birthday on March 4, 2006, surrounded by family and friends.
She loved to cook for her large family and babysit the children.
She was talented in crocheting and in her flower garden and will be remembered for her mischievous sense of humor and the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes.
Burial followed at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
