MARY CARSON, ONE OF DOMINGUEZ HEIRS, DIES.
Miss Mary Carson, 58 years old, daughter of the late Victoria de Carson, one of the daughters of Don Manuel Dominguez founder of the great Dominguez estate, died at her home, No 1844 Virginia road, La Fayette Square, at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. An attack of asthma was the direct cause of death. Funeral service will be conducted at St. Vibianna's Cathedral Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, with solemn requiem high mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Cunningham & O'Connor have charge of the funeral arrangements.
Miss Carson was the first born of fifteen children of George and Victoria de Carson, nine of whom are living. She inherited a share of the huge Dominguez estate, which she turned into the corporation that was organized for the purpose of administering the family holdings.
She was active in religious matters, having taken part in the work of the Catholic Church, of which she was a devout member. The preservation of the historic landmarks of California, with all their romance and glamour, exemplifying the days of the dons, was also a field in which she labored assiduously and with splendid results.
She leaves five brothers and four sisters, John Carson, Edward Carson, George Carson, David Carson and Joseph Carson; Mrs. N.R. Rassmussen, Mrs. J. F. Atheron, Mrs. V.C. Caldwell and Mrs. H.H. Cotton, all of this city.
