Heber received his education in Spanish Fork, Utah, Brigham Young University and University of Utah. He graduated from Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1917.

He practiced one year in Brigham City, Utah before entering the United States Army as first Lieutenant. After serving one year, and at the end of World War I, he was honorably discharged with the commission of Captain.

He was a member of the American Dental Association and a member of Utah State Board of Dental Examiners. At one time he represented the state board of examiners at their national convention in Chicago.

He served as president and secretary of the Dental Golf Association and chairman of the Dental Service Society in Salt Lake City, Utah.

While in Chicago, he was a leader of the choir in Logan Square, a branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also led the choir in the first ward at Spanish Fork, Utah. He was a member of the Tabernacle Choir.
