HURON – Carl Olyus "Red Bird" Blanton, 74, Blanton Road, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Friday, December 8, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Born July 27, 1932, in Lawrence County, he was the son of William and Mary (Grissom) Blanton. He married Betty Jane Terry July 28, 1951.
He retired from the Rogers Group and was a member of Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane Blanton, Huron; 2 sons, Robert E. Terry and his wife, Alice, Mitchell and
Carl Daniel Blanton and his lifetime companion, Barbara White, Orleans; 2 sisters, Peggy McNeely and her husband, Bob, Mitchell and Geneva Morris, Mitchell; 2 brothers, Chuck Blanton and his wife, Kathy, Orleans and John Blanton, Shoals; 17 grandchildren, Johnny Terry and his wife, Tricia, Sabrina Gonzales and her husband, Ave,
Robert Shawn Terry, Mary Hutslar, Katonya and Abbie White, J.D. Blanton, Johnny Blanton, Brittany, Ashley, and William Blanton, Amanda and Michael Blunk, Klayton Pence, Rudy Magana, Elizabeth and Gilbert Suarez; and 10 great grandchildren.
His parents; brother, Gene Grissom; two grandsons and one great grandson preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 11, at Bonds Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Rob Martindale officiating.
