The following September 15, 1921, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 4:
Fred B. Ault, son of John and Abigail Ault, was born in Woodson county, Kansas, March 18, 1873, and moved with his parents to Washington where they resided two years. From Washington they moved to Lowell, Indiana, when he was but fourteen years old. He was married to Mattie Jones April 16*, 1898, and to this union three children were born, Ivan, Harry and Esther, who live in and about Lowell. Mrs. Ault died December 26, 1903, leaving Mr. Ault to care for the children. On September 9, 1905, he was married the second time to Miss Mary Alcott who died March 4, 1907. On December 9, 1909, he was married to Mrs. Emma Johnson, his present companion, who survives him. The deceased became a member of the Christian church at Yates Center, Kansas. After an illness of only a few days he died at his home in Lowell Tuesday evening, September 6, 1921, at the age of 48 years, 5 months and 18 days. He leaves to mourn, his wife, three children, three brothers, Edward and John, of near Momence, and Jay, of Claypoole, Ind., three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Powell and Mrs. Horace Johnson, of Lowell, and Mrs. Frank Fields, of Kouts, Ind. Funeral services were held at the Christian church Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. J.I. Brimberry, pastor of the church, preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker Sheets had charge of the burial service. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Walter Einspahr, Fred Tanner, Howard Slocomb, Cecil Johnson, Thuel Hayden and Edmond Worley.
* NOTE -- This obituary puts the marriage date of Mattie Jones and Fred B. Ault as Apr. 16, 1898, but Mattie Jones Ault's obituary put it as April 6 of that year. -- Indiana Marriage Records indicate marriage occurred on April 6, 1898. (Thanks, Larry, for the marriage record clarification)
