Charlotte Roalstad, 81, of Elbow Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Highmore, South Dakota, died Sunday, February 6, 2000, at Grant County Health Center in Elbow Lake.
Charlotte Mary May Abernathy was born October 17, 1918, in Alpena, South Dakota, to John William and Florence Etta (Kelley) Abernathy. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended rural school near Highmore. She also attended art school for two years.
On April 19, 1941, she married Dale Eugene Roalstad in Chicago. She spent her lifetime career as a mother and homemaker.
She was currently living with her daughter in Elbow Lake, where she was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Donald (Phyllis) Roalstad of Circle Pines, Minnesota, and Phillip (Mary) Roalstad of Britt, Minnesota; a daughter, Virginia Wall of Elbow Lake; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine (Bill) Ortmeier of Watertown, SD and Marlly (Royal) Cermak of Highimore, SD; two brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Abernathy of Rapid City, SD and George (Lorraine) Abernathy of Highmore; and half siblings, Leo Eugene Lynch and Lawrence (Shirley) Lynch, both of Highmore, and Patricia (Dominic) Calvetti of Rapid City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Leo Lynch; her husband on October 6, 1965; three brothers, John, Joseph (in infancy), and Raphael; a sister, Guenetta Axtmann; and a son-in-law, Jim Wall.
Funeral: St. Mary's Catholic Church, Highmore, SD, Sat. Feb. 12, 2000.
Officiating: Rev. Greg Frankman.
Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Highmore.
