George Alpers Rites At Smith

"Smith Valley - Funeral services for George M. Alpers were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Community Church, with the Rev. Richard Whitmore of Reno officiating.

Alper's, a native of Smith Valley was fatally injured in an airplane crash on July 2nd while on a crop dusting flight near Bristow, OK. He died July 6 in a hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was 24.

Burial was in the family plot at Hillcrest Cemetery."

Alpers had been flying since he was 16 years old, the accident was the result of his plane hitting a tree.

Survivors include his father, Ernest; siblings Lt. Fred E. Alpers of Wichita Falls, TX, Mrs. Barbara Freeman of Sunnyvale, CA and Helen Alpers of Smith Valley; grandmother's Christina Alpers of Orange, CA and Mrs. F.W. Kingsley of Denver, CA
