José Luciano Serrano, age 90, passed away on January 15, 2002 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa in the arms of his loving family.
Luciano was born on September 11, 1911 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Simon and Petrita Chávez Serrano.
Luciano was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Luciano married Mary Martínez on April 21, 1933 in Santa Rosa.
Luciano owned and operated the Coronado Courts in Santa Rosa for several years and was the Truck Line Freight Agent for Navajo and ICX for over 30 years.
Luciano was a resident of Albuquerque since 1986 and was a member of the Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church.
Luciano loved his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will truly be missed by all.
Luciano was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Serrano in 1990, his great-grandson, Michael Charles Anthony Campos in 1992 and his sister, Eslinda Sánchez in 1994.
Survivors include his children, Eddie Serrano and his wife, Camilla of Albuquerque, Mary Lou Sánchez and her husband, Joe Robert of Las Vegas, NM, Marie Ozila Ortega and her husband, Eric of Oxnard, CA, Loretta Campos and her husband, Gilbert of Santa Rosa and Pamela McCue of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Phillip Sánchez and his wife, Martha, Marga Sánchez, Sean Ortega, Joshua Ortega, Diane Campos and husband, Henry Skinner, Tim Campos and his wife, Juliet, Sharon Campos, Jennifer Tammaro and her husband, Scott, José Serrano II, Simon Serrano, Miguel Serrano, Melissa McCue and her husband, Derek Mulner, Jeffrey McCue and Leah McCue, great-grandchildren, Jason González and his wife, Shelia, Erica González, Timothy Campos, Alexandria Campos, Adam Tammaro, Sophia Skinner, Salome Skinner, Nathan Sánchez and Erin Sánchez and great-great-grandchild, Zachary. Also surviving are his sisters and brothers, Zulema Nichols and her husband, Tom of Santa Rosa, Alice Romo, Adolph Serrano of Santa Rosa, Simon Serrano and his wife, Pita of Albuquerque, Luis Serrano and his wife, Dulce of Santa Rosa, Zolio Serrano and his wife, Vicky of Albuquerque, Frank Serrano and his wife, Ofelia of Houston, Robert Serrano of Santa Rosa and Charles H. Serrano and his wife, Angie of Santa Rosa.
Rosary Services will be celebrated on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque. Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Robert Sánchez, Phillip Sánchez, Gilbert Campos, Tim Campos, Sean Ortega, Joshua Ortega, Henry Skinner, Scott Tammaro, Jeffrey McCue, Derek Mulner, José Serrano, Simon Serrano, Miguel Serrano and Eric Ortega.
