Rueben Michel, son of Frederick Sr. and Margaretta (Bangert) Michel was born March 6, 1913, in Russell Co., KS. He died on April 15, 1995, in Russell Hospital. His age was 82 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

Rueben lived most of his life in Russell County, much on the family farm south of Russell. Even after moving from farm to Russell in 1950, he continued his farming career. Rueben lived in McPherson, KS for 7 years while working for Certainteed Co. and returned to Russell upon retirement.

His was united in marriage to Emma Ruf on Aug. 16, 1940 at Sidney, NE. To this union four children were born, two of who died in infancy. She died December 12, 1983. They shared 43 years together, Emma catering to Rueben's every need and Rueben being the "rock" and setting direction in their lives. Being alone in life was not fulfilling enough for Rueben. He married Helen Wagner Gideon on February 6, 1985, at Russell. They continued to enjoy having lunch, coffee and visits with their friends around Russell. Helen's love, companionship, and family: Glenn, Darold and Don Gideon; Elaine Golightley; Tammy Underwood; their spouses, and 3 grandchildren and 16 gt. grandchildren, provided them much support and certainly helped make Rueben's last years enjoyable.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Emma; his brothers: George, Henry, John, Peter, Fred, and Leo and sisters: Eva Strecker, Mary Weimaster, and Sophia Strecker.

Survivors include his wife Helen of the home; his brother Bill Michel of Russell; son: Clyde D. Michel, Glendale, AZ; daughter, Mrs. Myron (Shirley) Brown, Edmond, Okla.; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
