Leslie F. Lehrke, age 88, of New Germany, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Leslie was born May 18, 1919 in Young America, to Edward and Clara (Lenz) Lehrke. He was baptized June 8, 1919 at Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bergin Township, Lester Prairie, and confirmed March 25, 1934 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America.
Leslie was united in marriage to Glenna M. Burkowske March 5, 1941 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf.
A loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Leslie was engaged in farming from 1941 until 1988, after which the family moved to New Germany. Leslie then worked for the City of New Germany.
He enjoyed deer hunting, was an avid baseball fan, and the captain of the dart ball team at St. Mark for many years.
Leslie was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Lehrke; parents Edward and Clara Lehrke; brothers Leonard “Dick” Lehrke, and Lester “Pete” Lehrke; father-in-law and mother-in- law Gust and Lina Burkowske; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edwin and LaCorda Burkowske; niece Suzy Burkowske; and nephew Russel Harms.
He is survived by his loving family; wife Glenna; sons and daughters-in-law Lynis and Barbara Lehrke of Hamburg, Ronald and Karen Lehrke, and Lyle and Donna Lehrke, all of New Germany; grandchildren Donna Chan, Danette and Troy Wolberson, Lisa and Kerry Klaustermeier, Timothy and Ebony Lehrke, Todd and Terry Lehrke, Ty and Kristin Lehrke, Tracy and Scott Johnson, Anita and Toby Buhr, Nona Lehrke and fiancé Jon Latzig, and Audra Lehrke; and great-grandchildren Brittany, Meghan, McKenzie, Matthew, Kelsey, Cole, Sabrina, Desiree, Jordan, Adam, Aaron, Sydney, Cassie, Matthew, Madison, Morgan, Mitchell, Shelby, and Mar.
Leslie is further survived by sisters-in-law Ardis Lehrke and Ruth Lehrke, both of NYA; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating. Interment was in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in New Germany.
Casket bearers were Leslie’s grandsons and great-grandsons, Timothy Lehrke, Todd Lehrke, Ty Lehrke, Troy Wolberson, Kerry Klaustermeier, Scott Johnson, Toby Buhr, Adam Lehrke, Aaron Lehrke, and Cole Klaustermeier.
