Glenna M. Lehrke, age 88, of New Germany, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the Auburn Home in Waconia.
Glenna was born April 3, 1923, in Camden Township, the daughter of Gustav and Lena (Zuehl) Burkowske. She was baptized May 6, 1923, and confirmed March 21, 1937, at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Glenna was united in marriage to Leslie F. Lehrke March 5, 1941, at St. Mark Lutheran Church by the Rev. Theo Rolf.
The couple farmed from 1941 to 1986, and then moved into New Germany in 1988.
Glenna was a school cook and did custodial work at Waconia Public Schools and St. Mark Lutheran School from 1957 to 1970. She wrote the New Germany News column, published in three local papers, including the Herald Journal, for over 30 years.
Glenna decorated cakes for many occasions, including weddings, confirmations, baptisms, and birthdays. She also sold Avon for many years.
A faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Glenna belonged to the Ladies Aid and church choir, and was a senior companion for 20 years.
Glenna loved her family; her sons and grandchildren meant the world to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; a grandson, Chad Lehrke; parents Gustav and Lena Burkowske; brother and sister-in-law Edwin and Lacorda Burkowske; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Clara Lehrke; brothers-in-law Dick Lehrke, and Lester "Pete" Lehrke; nephew and niece Elroy and Suzy Burkowske; and nephew Russel Harms.
Glenna is survived by her loving family; sons and daughters-in-law Lynis and Barbara Lehrke of Arlington, Ronald and Karen Lehrke, Lyle and Donna Lehrke, all of New Germany; grandchildren Donna Chan, Danette and Troy Wolbersen, Lisa and Kerry Klaustermeier, Timothy and Eboni Lehrke, Todd and Terry Lehrke, Ty and Kristin Lehrke, Tracy and Scott Johnson, Anita and Tobias Buhr, Nona and Jon Latzig, and Audra Lehrke; and great-grandchildren Brittany, Meghan, McKenzie, Matthew, Kelsey, Cole, Sabrina, Desiree, Jordyn, Timia, Skylar, Adam, Aaron, Sydney, Cassie, Matthew, Madison, Morgan, Mitchell, Shelby, Mari, Jacoby, and Grayson.
She is further survived by sisters-in-law Ardis Lehrke, and Ruth Lehrke, both of Norwood Young America; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were Timothy Lehrke, Todd Lehrke, Ty Lehrke, Troy Wolbersen, Kerry Klaustermeier, Scott Johnson, Toby Buhr, and Jon Latzig.
