John W. Lowrey was a partner with his father and uncle in Lowrey, Son & Co. tobacco manufacturers in Kernersville, NC. After his father died, John moved his wife and 4 children to Birmingham in 1916. He worked as a bookkeeper for National Supply Co. until his retirement in 1951. He and his wife lived at 1027 23rd Street S., Birmingham, AL.
