Nellie M. Beesley, daughter of Edgar B and Mary Gorham, as born Oct. 10, 1883 at Brisow in Osborne county. She passed away Friday, Feb. 10 at Hadley memorial hospital in Hays at the age of 83.

From early childhood she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Louis Dailey and husband, and was united in marriage to John Corra Beesley on Oct. 9, 1902 at Hill City. They had three sons and five daughters, all of whom are still living.

Mr. and Mrs. Beesley homesteaded in the Missouri Flats community of Gove county, where they lived until August, 1956 when they moved to Hays. They celebrated their 50th anniversary October of 1952 at the homestead, and their 55th in their home at Hays.

Mrs. Beesley was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1958, and by her brothers Charles and Earl, and sisters Myra Dailey and Laura Tucker. Survivors include their children, Fred E. of Oakley; Alice F. of Hays; Mrs. Wm. J. (Nancy) Heard, Russell; Mrs. Walter (Grace) Dunlap, Gove; Ray G. of Quinter; Mrs. Wm. P (Mary) Weckel, Wichita; Mrs. James J. (Edith) Homoplka, Holyrood, and James E., of Dighton.

Also she leaves 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Maude Gorham of Concordia, Mrs. Flossie Sexton of Ironton, Mo. and Mrs. Robert (Ina) Moudy of Culver City, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Beesley united with the Methodist church at the age of 13, and was a charter member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service and the second president of this organization at Gove. She transferred her membership to the First Methodist church at Hays in 1956, and also was a member of Gove Rebekah ledge and the Order of Eastern Star.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Gove Methodist church, with Rev. George Beebe of the First Methodist church as Hays and Pastor Robert D. Wood officiating.

Burial was in the Gove cemetery, with arrangements by Mall Funeral Home of Hays.
