Joe Billy Bowers Sr., 96, of Martinsville, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Martinsville Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme Sexton Bowers.
He was born Jan. 22, 1908, in Carroll County to Albert and Eugenia Pickett Bowers.
Survivors include his sister, Hattie Spraker of Ivanhoe; his brother, June Bowers of Ivanhoe; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; an several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Daphine Mitchell; and a son, Joe Billy Bowers Jr.
A funeral will be held today, Wednesday, at Mount Hope United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Ken Belvins and Roger Collins will officiate.
