He was born Feb. 19, 1924 in Carroll County to the late James Albert Bowers Sr. and Ida Mae Lineberry Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Goodson Bowers.
He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Darnell Bowers of Ivanhoe; a sister, Hattie Spraker of Ivanhoe; a half-sister, Lola Galliazo of Ohio; special friends, Susie, John and Jay Wooley of Ivanhoe; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m., at the Fairview United Methodist Church in Ivanhoe with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Blevins will officiate.
American Legion Post 9 conducted graveside military rites.
