Marvin A. Snook

ELDON -- Marvin A. Snook, 64, died at University Hospitals in Iowa City at about 12 a.m. today. He had been a patient there nine days and had been in failing health the past two years.

Born Aug. 15, 1904, in Davis county, he was the son of William and Elizabeth Jones Snook. He had lived in the Ottumwa and Eldon areas most of this life and retired from John Morrell & Co. in Ottumwa in January 1968. His marriage to Susie Beck took place June 10, 1935 in Fairfield. He was a member of the Northside Nazarene Church in Ottumwa.

Survivors include his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Richard Tennison of Ottumwa and Mrs. Donald Essary of Fairfield; five sons, Ambres, Robert and Kenneth of Davenport, Marvin Jr. of Ottumwa, and Edward of San Francisco; 16 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; eight sisters, Edna Bunner, Mary Okerstrom, and Mildred Crow, all of Eldon, Virginia Bayne of Ottumwa, Lala Brown of Douds, Pauline Croder of Deming, N.M., June Morrow of Belknap, and Audrey McClurg of Batavia; and one brother, Wilbur of Fairfield.

The funeral has tentatively been set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home. The Rev. Clinton Spilman will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
