KEYSTONE-Funeral services for Alvin Nissen, 89, were Wednesday, Sept. 4, at SL John Lutheran Church, Keystone. The Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiated. Burial was in the Keystone Cemetery. Alvin Nissen died Sunday, Sept. 1,1991, at the Keystone Care Center, where he had been a resident since 1987. Alvin Nissen was born Dec. 21,1901, in Homer Township, Benton County. He was the son of George and Christina Hoist Nissen. He married Gladys Hoist Aug. 13, 1929, at St. John's parsonage in Keystone. She died in 1987. The couple farmed for many years in the Keystone area. He retired in 1963 and moved to town. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He is survived by one son, Robert, Keystone; a daughter, Pearl Hagen, Newhall; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hulda Mcllrath, Shellsburg, and Marie Smith of Colorado; two brothers, Elmer, Vinton, and Paul of Marion. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle; a son, Ronald, in infancy; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Lydia Francke; and a brother, Frank.
