Andrew Clay and Elizabeth Buff had at least the following children: Rosa Alice Clay Richards, John R. Clay, Susan Catherine Clay Richards

Andrew 'Andy' Clay was born around 1820 in Lincoln County, North Carolina to Daniel and Barbara Reep Clay. He married Elizabeth Buff of Lincoln County in 1842. They had 12 children by the time he was inducted into the Confederate Soldiers of America, Company H, 58th Regiment under Captain Harper. Clay traveled with the CSA from NC to Atlanta, GA. He died within months after joining his regiment of sickness at Roy Hospital in Atlanta. Clay is buried there. Elizabeth Buff Clay never remarried. She lived on the large farm and raised their 12 children. She is buried at Grace Chapel UMC, Grace Chapel Road, Granite Falls, NC not far from where she and Andy lived and had their family.
