Funeral for Ronnie Forrest Cavnar, 74, of Decatur, will be today, August 26, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy VanLandingham officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Ronnie died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital following a short illness. He was born February 17, 1936, in Decatur to Herman B. Cavnar and Sarah Marjorie Hood Cavnar. He was a long-time member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy, following the Korean Conflict, aboard the USS Princeton. Following that, he held various sales positions until his passing. His family and many friends were the highlights of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Phil Cavnar.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Chatham Cavnar; two sons, Randy Cavnar and wife, Sharon, of Decatur and Michael Cavnar and wife, Tonya, of Athens; two grandsons, Walker Cavnar and Davis Cavnar of Athens; two stepgrandchildren, Todd Roby and wife, Melissa, and Rachel Clark and husband, Jonathan; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Ethan, Parker and Lillie Beth.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Black, Pierre Coggins, Steve Davis, Jimmy Drake, John Fortune, Robert Pittman, Jeff Pugh and Mark Zirbel.
