George served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-17 #42-29491, 509th Bomber Squadron, 351st Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Hancock County, West Virginia prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1942 at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17 #42-29491 took off from Polebrook, England on a practice flight. They collided in mid-air with B-17 #42-29865 and both crashed near Polebrook. The entire crew of " both " B-17's were lost in this crash.

George died in the "Line Of Duty" in this plane crash during the war.
