Nancy is my son's 4th paternal Gr-Grandmother.

She married Henry Board on 25 Dec 1813 in Franklin Co VA, the son of James William & Mary (Ferguson) Board. They had eighteen children, thirteen sons and five daughters.

Note: Her parents are not yet known, but Nancy's maiden name has now appeared in two records as two different names. 'Aldridge' appears on the Death Certificate of her son, Wiley P Board and 'Majors' appears on her husband's War of 1812 Pension record. With a new name to research, more will be added to this memorial as further information is located.

Nancy and her family are believed by her descendants to be buried in the Board Family Cemetery in Franklin Co VA.

This old recipe was found while researching the Board family in VA. Nancy may have tried it herself, but there is no record. It is posted here only as a matter of interest.

BREAD SOUP
Dry pieces of bread and place with cold broth a few hours in a kettle. Add a yellow turnip and cook until soft. Strain through a sieve, thin with more broth, cook one half hour and serve.
