Priscilla Cunard Buckles was born in Jennings County, IN. Her parents, John and Lovina Erwin Hughes Buckles, later moved to St. Joseph County where she must have met Stephen Fields, whom she married, Jan 27, 1852, but in Jennings County, IN. Priscilla's first cousin was Mrs. J. M. Studebaker, wife of the automobile manufacturer. Priscilla had eight children. I have a drawing of the Fields' farm and house--neat as a pin--and of Priscilla smoking a corn cob pipe. Priscilla died of apoplexy at 501 West Navarre street, her home in South Bend, after she left the farmhouse which became a rental and burned to the ground.
