He married Hetty Deputy, Jan 31, 1828, in Jennings Co., IN. He married, second, Lovina Erwin Hughes, 31 January 1829, in Indiana. He married, third, Martha Brandon, widow of Humphrey M. Robinson, 28 November 1833, Jennings County, IN. John was once a member of the Dunker Brethren Church, but afterward united with the M.E. Church. He died in MI at nearly 84 years of age.
