FUNERAL HELD JUNE 14 FOR EDWARD HALL
Former Curlew Resident Passes Away at Home in Mora, Minn.
Funeral services for Edward Andrew Hall of Mora, Minn., were held in the Curlew Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock June 14.
Rev. Harvey A. Walker officiated. Mrs. Maurice Trow and Mrs. James Ausland sang "Under His Wings" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Helen Pieratt was the accompanist.
Six nephews of the deceased were the pall bearers. Ernest, Martin and William Hall of Dunnell, Minn., and Gilbert, Clarence and Fred Hall of Iowa. The honorary pall bearers were: Dan Johnson, Harry Sample, Alof Backstrom, F. E. Seagren, Adolf Bengtson and Ora Compton. Interment was in Rush Lake cemetery south of Curlew. The Martin Funeral home of Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Edward Andrew Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Hall, was born December 11, 1863 in Ostergotland, Sweden, and died at his home near Mora, Minn., June 10, 1942, at the age of seventy-eight years and six months.
In 1870 he came with his parents and five brothers to Boxholm, Iowa. He lived from 1886 to 1890 in Holdridge and Axtell, Nebr., and in the latter year returned to Boxholm where he remained until 1894 when he moved to Curlew. This was his home for several years. Here on February 14, 1900, he was united in marriage with Miss Amanda Lyon of Curlew. Three children were born to them, Russell, Leila, and Virgil. In 1915 he moved with his family to the farm near Mora, Minn., where he lived for the remainder of his life.
Mr. Hall was a carpenter by trade until 1900. Since then he has employd himself at farming.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents and three of his brothers, Gust, Frank and one brother who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, two sons, Russell of Pipestone, Minn., and Virgil, of Mora; one daughter, Leila of Mora, four brothers, Charles of Tracy, Minn., Emil of Boxholm, Axel of Lincoln, Neb., and Otto F. of Des Moines, and one grandson, James Russell Hall of Pipestone, Minn.
Services for Mr. Hall were held at Mora, Minn., with the Rev. W. G. Boyle in charge
Besides the immediate family who attended the funeral rites were many friends and relatives from out of town. Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Hedburg, Boxholm; Adolf Bengtson and his sister, Mrs. Amelia Klemdson of St. James, Minn.; Philipp Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Sample and son Raymond, daughter, Mrs. Donald Frazee, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Johnson, Roy Hallett, Mrs. Louise Haman, daughter Mrs. Harold Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Haman, all of Laurens; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hall and Betty Lou, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Trulson of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnson of Hannibal, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Taylor, Algona; John A. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Homer McAllister of Emmetsburg.
