Harold Burt Smallridge, 76 of Chillicothe died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 7, 2000 at 8:54 a.m. in the Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 1, 1924 in Vinton County to Talmadge G. and Edna I. (Burt) Smallridge. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Ruth Holdren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Thomas Chaney, Chillicothe, Betty and Ray Horsley, Chillicothe, Judy and Cloyd Steele, Kingston and Connie and Gary Stevens, Londonderry; three sons, Bobby and Kay Ogan, Chillicothe, Jerry and Sondra Ogan, Richmond Dale, and Tommy and Becky Smallridge, Chillicothe; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Mary Smallridge, and a sister-in-law Bessie Smallridge, all of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas L. Smallridge and two sisters, Ruth I. Johnson and Jean L. Smallridge.

Harold retired from Mead as a color plant operator after 39 years of service.

He was a Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, a member of Ross County Senior Citizens and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 108. He attended the Westside Church of the Nazarene and the Wesleyan Church. He was an avid fan of all ball games and fishing. He loved everyone and everyone loved him.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Haller Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Fox and Rev. Larry Brisker officiating. Military graveside service will follow in the Londonderry Cemetery conducted by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad.

Friends may call at the Haller Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m.
