Ruth L. Smallridge, 85, of Chillicothe, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:50 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2002.She Died in the Cleveland Clinic after a long battle with lung and heart disease. She was very brave and fought until the end.

She was born May 28, 1917, in Ross County to the late Elza and Mary Graves Holdren. She was married to Arthur Ogan, who died in 1950. She then Married Harold B. Smallridge, who died March 7, 2000.

Surviving daughters a son-in-law Joyce (Tom) Chaney; Betty (Ray) Horsley, all of Chillicothe, Judith (Cloyd) Steele, of Kingston, Connie (Gary) Stevens, of Londonderry, sons and daughter-in-law Robert (Kay) Ogan, Thomas (Becky) Smallridge all of Chillicothe. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Sandra Ogan of Londonderry, brother-in-law Robert Smallridge, Chillicothe, and many nieces and Nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Jerry Ogan, an infant daughter, Janet Ogan, six sisters, two brothers and a special nephew, Harold Holdren, Jr.

Ruth was a member of Westside Nazarene Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Derek Catron officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haller Funeral Home.

Although my name is Thomas Smallridge, my aunt and uncle (Harold and Ruth) have a son by the name of Thomas Smallridge. He is Thomas Lee (Tommy) and I am Thomas Lloyd (Tom).
