Ruthie Rudelphia (Nelson) King, daughter of the late John Z. T. and Nancy C. (Brigman) Nelson, was born July 30, 1893 near Montauk, MO. She departed this life on November 29, 1982 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital, making her age 89 years, 3 months, and 28 days. She was united in marriage to Charley Travis King at the home of James Davis, near Montauk on December 27, 1914. To this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Alma May, and one son, Coy Wayne. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Charley of the home in Licking, three sons, Lenza M. King of Licking, Troy D. King of Maplewood, MO, Hiram W. King of St. Peters, MO, and one sister, Lura M. Floyd of Licking, MO. She also leaves to mourn, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Ruth has spent all of her life in the Licking area. Her early life was spent working hard making a home and raising a family on a farm near Licking. On September of 1961, she and Charley retired and moved to Licking. She accepted Christ as her savior in the fall of 1923. She was baptized in North Ashley Creek and joined Mt. Olive Church. She was always an active church member and remained a faithful Christian until her death. She was always willing to give a helping hand to those who needed it. She was a living wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and all of those who knew and loved her. Services for Ruthie R. King were held on Wednesday, December 1, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Church. Brother Leroy Maxey of St. Louis and Brother O. B. Gadis of Licking officiated. Diane Perry played the piano. Norma Gorman, Leta Floyd, Penny York, and Patricia Gorman sang. The pallbearers were eight of her grandsons: Delien and Don King of St. Louis, MO, Jim King of St. Peters, MO. Ricky and Gary King of Eldon, MO, Dennis and Roger King and Dan Reeder of Licking. Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home.
