Ann Charlotte Petermeier was born Aug. 7, 1898 at rural Baxter to Fred and Caroline Schnathorst Petermeier, the second of eight children. She attended Malaka No. 4 school.

She married Otis Dodd March 31, 1923, at the home of Otis' uncle and aunt, Fred and Julia Dodd in Marshall County. They lived in the Baxter and Marshalltown areas.

Ann was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and a former member of the Friendly Neighbors Club.

She died on Saturday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Visitation was Monday, Feb. 17, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. Darrell Bailey officiated at the services held Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial was in Restland Cemetery, Baxter.

Survivors included her husband Otis; a daughter Geraldine Miller, Springfield, Ill.; a son Alan Dodd, Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; two sisters Lela Petermeier, Des Moines, and Doris Noyer, Sunrise, Fla.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a stillborn son, and an infant granddaughter.

Memorials were directed to the church.

AUTO DITCHED; ONE HURT.
Miss Anna Petermeier, of Baxter, Suffers Fractured Clavicle.

When an automobile containing eight young people and children from Baxter and Melbourne turned turtle seven miles south of the city late Saturday afternoon. Miss Anna Petermeier, aged 17, of Baxter, suffered the fracture of her right collar bone. The «5river of the car Inst control of the machine in attempting a race with a motorcycle. The young people had been to this city to attend the celebration. and were on their way to Laurel to spend the evening when the accident occurred. Miss Petermeier's injury was attended to after she was brought to this city. The top of the car was broken and the steerding (sic) gear damaged.
