Otis Allan Dodd was born in Clear Creek Township, Jasper County, Iowa, on March 18, 1899, the fifth child and fourth son of Mark and Harriett Elizabeth Baker Dodd. In 1901 the family moved to South Dakota and in 1903 they moved to Burnett County, Wisconsin. The family relocated around Riceville, Iowa, between 1914 and 1916, after which they returned to Burnett County.

Otis moved to Baxter in 1920 and married Ann Charlotte Petermeier March 31, 1923, at his uncle and aunt Fred and Julia Dodd's home in Marshalltown. He farmed until retiring in 1952, at which time he moved to Marshalltown. He sold real estate for Reibsamen and Lewis Simox Realty until retiring in 1962.

He was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ and a member of the Farm Bureau for more than 40 years.

Otis died at the age of 95 Sunday, Oct. 30, 1994, Villa del Sol Health Center in Marshalltown.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home.

The Rev. Charles Holmgren of Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, and the Rev. Tim Murtaugh of the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown conducted the funeral services on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Baxter church. Otis was buried next to his wife Ann in Restland Cemetery, Baxter.

Memorials to the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ were accepted.

Survivors included a daughter, Geraldine Miller of Springfield, Ill.; a son, Alan of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Fay Stengel of Benson, Ariz., and Madonna Danielson of Webster, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann; an infant son Don; a granddaughter Teri Dodd; five brothers and four sisters.
