Obituary - Lewis County Herald, Nezperce, Idaho, February 12, 1987

Dale C. Eller, 69, Was Active In Nezperce - Dale Clarence Eller, 69, formerly a Nezperce resident, died Tuesday at Grangeville Convalescent Home. His death was caused by complications with diabetes and numerous strokes.
The son of Joseph F. and Bertha A. Eller of Greencreek, he was born March 22, 1917, on his parent's ranch at Eller's Crossing on the northern edge of Idaho County.
He moved with his parents to Grangeville in 1930 and graduated from Grangeville High School in 1935.
He married Willetta C. Carlson of Fenn on Aug. 16, 1941, at Grangeville. They lived in the Grangeville area until February 1945, when they moved to Nezperce.
He worked as a farm laborer and at a local garage. In February 1946, he went to work for Nezperce Processing, now known as Jacklin Seed Co., and worked there until diabetes forced an early retirement in March 1978.
In 1985 they moved to Syringa along the Clearwater River east of Kooskia, where they enjoyed their retirment until he suffered several strokes, forcing the couple to return to Nezperce.
He was active in the Nezperce Grange, in the Nezperce Riding Club and with Nezperce Senior Citizens. He served on the Lewis County Fair Board and during summers he umpired softball games for local teams.
His interests included camping, fishing, hunting, bowling and gardening.
He is survived by his wife at their home; one brother, Vern Eller of Grangeville; four daughters, Sharlyne Dinnell of Lewiston, Janine Porter of Coeur d' Alene, Becky Eller of Lewiston, and Lori Playstead of Boise; two sons, Duane Eller of Twin Bridges, Mont., and Tim Eller, who is serving with the U.S. Navy at San Diego, and eight grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister died previously.
The funeral was Saturday, February 14, at the Nezperce Christian Church with the Rev. Richard Halstead officiating. Burial followed at Nezperce Community Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be contributions to the Nezperce Ambulance Fund.
Uhlorn Funeral Home at Cottonwood handled the arrangements.
