Edith Foley, age 85 of Elwood, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born March 17, 1923 in Knox County, Kentucky. She was a substitute schoolteacher for over 10 years for the Tipton Community School Corporation. She obtained an Associate Degree in teaching from Union College in Barbersville, KY. She married Homer Foley on May 19, 1946. She was a faithful member of the Curtisville Christian Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid and funeral dinner ministry. She was an active member of the Elwood Chapter of American Business Women Association (ABWA), and a member of the Women of Euchre (WOE) Club. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.



Survivors include: Daughter – Lois Foley of Anderson; Son – Max Foley of Arcadia; Sister – Vinnie Maude Stewart of Artemus, KY; and 3 Grandchildren – Kyle Foley, Kayle Foley, and Carly Foley all of Tipton. She was preceded in death by: Parents – Nathan and Dora (Rickett) Hampton; Husband who died September 8, 1982 – Homer Foley; 2 Brothers – Earnest Hampton and Clell Hampton; and Sister – June Miller.



Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2008 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Jim Snapp of the Curtisville Christian Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Curtisville Cemetery in Tipton County. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday morning at the funeral home.
