She was born on September. 25, 1927 in Gardnerville, Nevada, to Fred and Bernice (Brandon) Berning. She was raised and attended school in Carson City, graduating from Carson City High School in 1945.
She married Robert A. Adams on July 2, 1949. Barbara and Robert were happily married for 43 years until his death in 1992. She was also predeceased by her brother, William Berning, of Carson City.
Barbara worked for Nevada Bell in Reno for many years and kept busy with volunteer work after her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church.
She enjoyed genealogy and spent many happy hours developing a very extensive family tree, tracing her roots back to Charlemagne and several kings in Europe.
Barbara took great pleasure in the educational and athletic achievements of her grandchildren. She was a generous and caring person who always tried to help those in need.
Barbara was a highly intelligent and determined woman who fought valiantly against the Alzheimer's disease that ultimately took her life.
