Miss Bacon, 89, of Rochester, died Thursday (June 14, 2007) at Saint Marys Hosiptal in Rochester.
Frances K. Bacon was born Oct. 22, 1917, in St. Anthony, Iowa. She moved to Spring Valley and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1935.
She served in the Army in its WAC division from Sept. 22, 1943, until her discharge on Dec. 28, 1945, in the Pacific Theater, serving in the Philippines. After the war, she worked for State Farm Insurance in St. Paul and retired in July of 1987. She moved to Rochester in 1989.
Survivors include two sisters, LaVonne Walter and Evelyn Strain, both of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley is in charge of arrangements.
