Nelson "Gunner" Bolyard, 77, of Vandalia died at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 23, 1989, in Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, with the Rev Russell Pittman officiating. Burial will be in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials: American Lung Association.
Mr. Bolyard was born Dec 30, 1911, in Vandalia, son of Isaac and Elizabeth Carter Bolyard. He was a self-employed welder. He married Bessie A. Marquis on Jan 21, 1933, in Vandalia.
Surviving are his wife, son, Larry of Decatur; daughters, Mrs. Gene (Betty) Perry of Decatur and Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Kistler of Vandalia; brothers, Lloyd and Archie, both of Vandalia; sister, Flossie Snow of Pekin; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. One son, six brothers, three sisters and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.~~
