John F. Jury died on Saturday, Apr. 14, 1906, at his home in Girard township, aged 80 years.

The deceased was born in Dauphin county, and with his parents came to Clearfield county when but a boy. In 1847 he married Elizabeth Grafflas (difficult to read) and from this marriage thirteen children were born, vis: Mrs. Mary Johnston, Isaiah, Simon, George W., Mrs. Dora Maines, Mrs. Carrie Knepp, Mrs. Andrew Shirey, Mrs. Nora Livergood, Mrs. Elisa Ball, and Andrew C., William and Edward at home. One boy, Cyrus, deceased.

Mr. Jury had been a veteran of the war between the States and took a great interest in the welfare of his comrades in arms. He had been a member of the M. E. church for a period of 44 years and was a true Christian.

Interment was made in Congress Hill cemetery, the Rev. McElroy officiating.

Mr. Jury having lived an upright life and having passed his four score years and ten with his neighbors, they, without exception, bear testimony of his good qualities as a man.
