A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 9 at the Memorial Community Care Dining Room in Aurora. The Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. No visitation. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Lois Mae Darlington was born in Franklin May 4, 1932. Lois grew up in Franklin. She trained as a nurse, earning her LPN diploma.
Lois married Tom Darlington Sept. 14, 1952, at Chadron. Lois was a stay at home mother raising their two daughters.
Tom worked for the Federal Aviation Administration at the Chadron Airport. In 1968, he became a maintenance supervisor for the FAA in the Nebraska Panhandle, and they moved to Scottsbluff. In 2012, they moved to Primrose Independent Living in Grand Island, where Lois continued to reside until 2014, when she moved to Memorial Community Care in Aurora. In May of 2015, health issues required her to move to Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney, where she spent the remainder of her days.
Lois was a member of the Scottsbluff Elks Club and PEO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom on Feb. 1, 2013; daughter, Ann Wohlers and an infant son.
