Mr. Paschal “Pat” Dietz Thompson of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away in his home on Thursday, June 16th, 2016 at 93 years.

Pat was born in Crawford, Texas, the son of Andy Elias Thompson and Susan Ida Bettis Thompson. He attended school in Yoakum, Texas and graduated from Sinton High School, Sinton, Texas, in 1942. He later attended an Industrial School in Cureo, Texas, studying the. He began his welding career building Liberty Ships in the Houston ship yards, before being called into serve in the Army. In the Army he served as a Military Policeman with the 703rd Military Police Battalion at Fort Myer, Virginia, Arlington National Cemetery. In 1947 he was employed by Plymouth Oil Company in Sinton, which later became Marathon Oil Company. He was transferred to Artesia, New Mexico where he continued his work for a total of 37 years.

On November 22nd, 1952 he married Dyron Florene Hickman in Mathis, Texas. They adopted two children, Patricia Ann, and Michael Bennett while living in Sinton. After retiring, they moved to Fredericksburg, Texas in 1990, where they were active in their Church and community.

Paschal is preceded in death by four siblings, Jeff Bettis Thompson, Ellen Frances Thompson, Bessie Sue Thompson, and Mary Lou Glenewinkel, Pat is survived by his sister Myrtle Aylene Hartley. His two children, Michael Thompson of Fredericksburg, Patricia Ann & Harvey Apple of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, his four grandchildren, Kyle & spouse Sofia Chapman, Cole Chapman and Lauren Chapman, and Anna Dell Apple, and many nieces & nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, with Rev. D.G. McCoury officiating.

Private family interment of his cremains in the Greenwood Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church.
