Jayn J. Wittenmyer, age 74 of Mt. Horeb, died on Monday, December 19, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI.

She was born on August 28, 1937 in Bloomingdale, Indiana to William and Pauline (Brading) Jeffers. She graduated from Bloomindale High School in 1955. Then, she attended Indiana State Teachers' College and Earlham College.

In 1965, she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University. She also attended UW-Madison taking courses in special education and behavior disabilities. She was united in marriage to William R. Wittenmyer on October 18, 1958 in Bloomingdale, Indiana. Jayn was the executive Director of Council for Developmental Disability until 1997. Her work was instrumental in developing services for people with developmental disabilities, which was her passion in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Amera "Amy", and two brothers: William and John Jeffers.

Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at MT. HOREB UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Rev. Cheri Forret officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 22nd prior to the service at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.

Internment graveside will be at Bloomingdale Cemetery at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2011.
